In April 1986, Operation El Dorado Canyon launched from RAF Lakenheath. Today, forty years later, the 48th Fighter Wing honors that legacy. In collaboration with the 494th Fighter Squadron and the 48th Equipment Maintenance Squadron, an F-15E Strike Eagle now wears the heritage paint scheme of the F-111s that flew that historic mission. Karma 52 carries the names of the two aircrew who gave their lives that night. This patch commemorates their sacrifice and the mission that defined a generation of airpower.
